sonic forum

Sonic Forum is a design for a temporary arts pavilion on the grounds of the los angeles county museum of art (LACMA). The museum is currently in the process of overhauling and transforming its 20-acre campus in the heart of L.A. The project positions itself as a temporary pavilion and project space for sound and installation artists to create ephemeral works during the museum’s transition. The pavilion acts as central gateway and activation point between the north, south, east, and west sides of the campus on a site that is currently a relatively static walkway. The grid of columns that runs through the site provides structural support to the dynamic triangulated softscape and canopy and is envisioned as a programmable sound system for sonic artists.
